The secret to vivid UV DTF on a black tumbler or a clear glass is the white underbase — a layer of white ink printed beneath your colors. Without it, colors look dull and translucent. With it, they stay bright and accurate on any surface.

What the white underbase does
UV inks are semi-transparent. On a white or light surface, the surface itself reflects light through them and colors look right. On dark, colored or clear surfaces, there's nothing to reflect — so a white layer is printed first to act as that reflective base.
This is why UV DTF works on black drinkware and clear glass where other methods struggle — the underbase is built into the transfer.
Getting accurate brand colors
For brand-critical work (corporate, school colors), supply colors in a defined space and call out Pantone or hex values. Vector art reproduces edges and solids most accurately.
